Drillster celebrates 15 years of learning with you.
This month marks 15 years since Thomas Goossens and Marco van Sterkenburg founded Drillster. We started with a simple but ambitious idea: fight the forgetting curve and change the way people learn and perform.

A lot has happened since 2011. Early research showed the promise of adaptive learning, with learners achieving approximately 10% higher scores in 40% less learning time. We grew beyond the Netherlands, first into the US, France and Spain, and later we welcomed learners around the world.
Along the way, our focus grew from building a product to developing a way of learning. In 2021, more than one million people worldwide had learned with Drillster. Seeing customers put that approach to work has been especially rewarding.
In 2023, the launch of the Drillster Question Crafter was an important milestone. It decreases the time that organizations need to create adaptive learning content by 90%! Today, organisations in sectors including aviation, healthcare, energy, construction and finance use Drillster to help people stay ready for work where critical competencies need to be top-of-mind year-round.
Looking back, we are incredibly proud of what our colleagues, customers, partners, and investors have built together. But what excites me most is what lies ahead.
AI gives us new possibilities to create learning content, tailor practice to each person and improve learning experiences. Yet the goal that brought us together 15 years ago has not changed: people need to remember, understand and apply the right knowledge and skills at the right moment. That is where learning makes a measurable difference to organisations.
We’re proud of our past, but even more excited about our future. And we’re not done making an impact yet.
