On October 25th, Drillster participated in Corporate Learning Day 2022, organized by Equipos&Talento, which took place at the Teatro Goya in Madrid. The event focused on the importance of training and professional development in an environment characterized by change. Exhibitors, speakers, visitors, and organizers came together to discuss, attend 8 roundtables, 10 speed talks, and learn more about L&D and HR. In this blog, you'll find a brief summary of our experience.
We'll walk through your specific challenges and show you how training can actually stick year-round.
The morning began around nine o'clock. Adrián Macías and Fernando González, Drillster's sales representatives in Spain, were ready to support and help anyone who had questions or was interested in learning more about Drillster's learning method.
From the experience, we highlight the enthusiasm within the training field to change obsolete learning methods for more modern ones adapted to today's needs. It's evident that the world has evolved, and training must evolve as well. There's a clear reality showing the inefficiency of traditional methods and the frustration that entails.
The brain of the current generation doesn't store information the same way it did 15 years ago. The Google Effect on Memory (also known as Digital Amnesia) is a theory by Dr. Betsy Sparrow that states people today remember less information from memory but know where they can find it quickly: on their phone. And it's this easy access to information that makes us remember less. Precisely for this reason, we need to learn more efficiently. After all, there's a lot of knowledge and skills that can't be looked up but must be memorized to be put into practice immediately. So, knowing that this cognitive change in the brain is a real fact, learning methodologies should also change.
During the event, Adrián and Fernando discussed this matter with everyone who wanted to learn. It's never too late to learn; if we approach it efficiently, there's always room for improvement. They shared with visitors the efficiency of adaptive and personalized learning for retaining skills, and explained how to transform the one-time knowledge peak into a continuous learning process.
Twenty-first-century employees don't want to spend long days studying endless slides. It's clear that more sustainable methods must be created that solve the knowledge gap and motivate users. If the learning culture becomes an integral part of their lives and workflow, people will be more motivated and engaged. This is the future that awaits us.
It was a day full of inspiration, new contacts, and experiences. We hope our visitors took home a clearer idea about the new methods that are gaining momentum in the training field. And that we fulfilled our promise: we learn with you, from you, and for you.
